Fun With Hair Color, The Couture Edition

If you thought Spring’s hair color trend was going to slow down anytime soon, perhaps you—and we, for that matter—counted out the Couture shows. With the January runways typically reserved for luxury showmanship and noteworthy homage (hairstylist Orlando Pita channeled Napoleon’s mistress, the Countess of Castiglione, and the Standard Oil heiress Millicent Rogers at Dior yesterday), you don’t expect to see a lot of Manic Panic backstage. But with pastel streaks leading the way at Proenza Schouler and Giles, then ballooning into dip-dyed mid-lengths and rainbow-colored chignons down in Brazil over the past few weeks, we should’ve known that dye would be a do in Paris. Alexis Mabilletook it to the next level, channeling Cubist and Suprematist art at his color-blocked show—a theme that extended due north of his necklines and resulted in half-heads of color in pink, red, black, yellow, and blue. It’s definitely the most saturated adaptation of the trend we’ve seen yet, but hey, everything’s bigger and better at Couture week. Thoughts on the look?
