Alice in FOOTLAND
Nicholas, Chloé, Ann, And More Take On Alice
January 29, 2010 2:19 pm
Last week, we previewed a sketch of Nicholas Kirkwood’s Alice in Wonderland-inspired heels, made on commission for the French department store Printemps, which is giving over its windows to all things Alice through March. (Sad to say, they’re window-only—you’ll have to find another pair to wear to the theater.) For the installation, Kirkwood is joined by Ann Demeulemeester, Alexander McQueen, Bernhard Willhelm, Charles Anastase, Christopher Kane, Chloé, Haider Ackermann, Manish Arora, and Maison Martin Margiela, each of whom were given a window to fill as they saw fit. The windows went up this week in Paris. Below, Style.com takes a tour through the various Wonderlands and asks a few of the participating designers and design teams about their trip there.MoniCa singh

Spring Summer COUTURE 2010
Spring summer 10 is all about vintage beauty....????? NO.Its about Historical especially for Jean Paul Gaultier . And if we talk about other international designer Elie Saab , who presented his feminism and delicacy of women. ....The journey of solid golds and other metallic colour jewelry with all dramatic shades of fashion in life..... goes to Pastels....soft , light and pleasing to the eyes.
Its amazing how these international designer to show bold image of women.CLeopatra to Forest Gump..

Pastel With A Punch, Backstage At Chanel
There were no little black dresses at the Chanel Coutureshow today, and no thick black cat-eyes courtesy of Peter Philips, either. Three little word combinations that came directly from Karl Lagerfeld—”liquid silver,” “neon baroque,” and “chemical pastels”—inspired the models’ brightly painted lips and metallic pewter eyes and nails. Philips used Rouge Allure in Genial, an as-yet-unreleased product from the brand’s summer Les Pop-Up collection, to get the “chemical coral” pout he was going for. He created an elongated silver/gray eye with Chanel’s new Ombres Contraste eye shadow duo in Gris-Subtil, and subtly contoured cheeks with its Les Tissages de Chanelin Tweed Corail. As for the makeup guru’s knack for sparking nail varnish fads, there might be a lull in the madness—at least for the Euro set. He revived Chanel’s Duo Platinum Silver today, which was only available across the pond when it launched in 2007. Mr. Philips, if you’re reading this, a relaunch in the U.S. would not be frowned upon.

Fun With Hair Color, The Couture Edition
If you thought Spring’s hair color trend was going to slow down anytime soon, perhaps you—and we, for that matter—counted out the Couture shows. With the January runways typically reserved for luxury showmanship and noteworthy homage (hairstylist Orlando Pita channeled Napoleon’s mistress, the Countess of Castiglione, and the Standard Oil heiress Millicent Rogers at Dior yesterday), you don’t expect to see a lot of Manic Panic backstage. But with pastel streaks leading the way at Proenza Schouler and Giles, then ballooning into dip-dyed mid-lengths and rainbow-colored chignons down in Brazil over the past few weeks, we should’ve known that dye would be a do in Paris. Alexis Mabilletook it to the next level, channeling Cubist and Suprematist art at his color-blocked show—a theme that extended due north of his necklines and resulted in half-heads of color in pink, red, black, yellow, and blue. It’s definitely the most saturated adaptation of the trend we’ve seen yet, but hey, everything’s bigger and better at Couture week. Thoughts on the look?
